MSU Friends of Sociolinguistics

The FOS is an informal, cross-departmental and cross-institutional group of faculty, graduates and undergraduates. Many members are alumni of Michigan State University.  The group was created in the early 2000s by Dennis Preston during his tenure here.

FOS are especially interested in research related to sociolinguistics in general, such as language variation and changelanguage contactbilingualismacquisition of variation in a first or a second language, etc.
